That's right...engine manufacturers are recommending changing your water pump impeller every year. A fresh impeller like the one shown will have straight, clean fins. Over time, the pump will "take a set" where the fins will be permanently bent, and not pump water as well. Eventually, the fins will crack, and not pump water properly causing your engine to over heat, and possibly sieze. A yearly replacement of a small part can be cheap insurance compared to replacing an engine!!! |
